Privacy Policy — AITale
1. About This Policy
AITale is an interactive short-fiction app for Android. You read a story, write what your character says or does, and the story continues from there. AITale is published on Google Play by ZhimengTech ("we", "us", "our"), which is the data controller for the app and the service behind it.
This policy covers AITale only. It is the complete privacy policy for AITale, and it replaces any earlier policy published for the app.
You can browse the story library and read a story's description without an account. Playing a story — submitting text and saving progress — requires signing in.
This policy is written in English, and the English version is the authoritative one. Where we publish a translation, the translation is provided for convenience; if the two differ, the English version governs.
2. Information We Collect
We collect what the app needs to run a story, keep your account working, and show ads:
| Data Type | What It Is |
|---|---|
| Google Account | Signing in to AITale uses Google Sign-In, and it is the only way to sign in. Google shares your account identifier, email address, name, and profile picture with us. We never receive your Google password. |
| Sign-In Tokens | A short-lived access token and a longer-lived refresh token, kept on your device. Our server records which tokens it has issued so it can sign you out and revoke every session if a token is reused in a way that suggests it has been stolen. |
| Story Progress & Input | Which story you are reading, how many turns you have played, each line of text you submit (up to 2,000 characters per turn), and the scenes the story generated in response. Stored on our servers under your account so a story can continue on another device or after a reinstall. |
| Advertising Data | Android advertising ID (AAID), app set ID, IP address, device model, OS version, language and region, and your interactions with ads — collected by Google AdMob to serve and measure ads. Coarse location may be inferred from your IP address. |
| App Usage & Diagnostics | Screens opened, stories started, sessions, crashes and performance data, collected through Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics. We configure crash reports not to include the text you submit to a story. |
| Technical Request Data | IP address, app and OS version, and timestamps, written to standard server logs whenever the app talks to our service. Used for security, abuse prevention, and diagnosing failures. |
What we do not collect. AITale does not ask for your contacts, photos, camera, microphone, precise GPS location, SMS, or health data, and it requests no Android permission it does not need in order to run a story. We do not read other apps on your device. We do not sell your personal information.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To run the story: your submitted text and the current state of the story are used to generate the next scene and to restore your place when you come back.
- To keep your account secure: tokens authenticate your requests, and the token records let us revoke every session at once if a refresh token is reused after it should have expired.
- To show ads: to serve and measure the ads that appear in the app, and to detect and prevent ad fraud.
- To improve AITale: aggregated usage statistics tell us which stories get played and where people stop; crash reports tell us what broke. Neither includes the text you write in a story.
- To keep the service working and safe: request logs let us detect abuse such as automated traffic against our API.
- To contact you about the service: occasionally we may email you about a security issue, a material change to this policy, or a change to your account. We do not send marketing email.
- To meet legal obligations: where we are required to retain or disclose something by law.
4. AI Processing of Your Story Input
Every turn you play is sent to an AI model to generate what happens next. Your submitted line, the current story state, and the story's own instructions are transmitted over HTTPS to our model provider, which returns the next set of scenes. Nothing else about you is included in that request.
We do not use your story text to train AI models, and our model provider processes it to return a completion under terms that do not permit using it for training.
No one reads your story text as part of normal operation. It is accessed by an engineer only when you report a specific problem that requires looking at it, or where we are legally required to.
Treat the text you type as part of your saved story. It is stored with your progress, so please do not enter real personal details — yours or anyone else's — into a story. Write your character's name, not your own.
5. Advertising and Analytics
AITale shows ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may use your advertising ID and the data listed above to serve ads, to limit how often you see the same ad, to measure whether ads worked, and to detect fraud.
Your ad choices. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we ask for your consent before showing personalized ads, and you can change or withdraw that choice at any time from the app's settings. If you do not consent, you will still see ads, but they will not be personalized. Anywhere in the world you can opt out of ad personalization on your device:
- Android: Settings → Google → Ads → delete or reset your advertising ID, or opt out of ad personalization.
- Or manage your preferences globally at Google Ad Settings.
Analytics and crash reports. We use Firebase Analytics for aggregate usage statistics and Firebase Crashlytics for crash diagnostics. These help us find broken features and decide what to fix first. They receive a pseudonymous app instance identifier, device and app version, and what happened before a crash — not your Google account details and not the text you write in a story. You can limit ad tracking and reset identifiers through the Android settings above; uninstalling the app stops all further collection from your device.
6. Third-Party Services
These are the outside services involved in running AITale:
| Service | Purpose | Privacy Policy |
|---|---|---|
| Google Sign-In | Account authentication | View |
| Google AdMob | In-app advertising, including personalized ads where you consent | View |
| Firebase Analytics & Crashlytics | Aggregate usage statistics, crash and performance diagnostics | View |
| Google Play | App distribution and updates, under Google's own terms | View |
| AI Model Provider | Generates the next scene from your input | Named on request · ask us |
| Hosting Provider | Serves the app's API and static story assets | Named on request · ask us |
We do not share your story text or account details with anyone else, except where you ask us to or where the law requires it.
7. Where Your Data Is Stored, and For How Long
- On our servers: Google account details, token records, and story progress. Kept for as long as your account is active.
- On your device: sign-in tokens and basic app preferences. Signing out or clearing the app's data removes the tokens; without them, the app cannot read your saved stories.
- Restarting a story deletes that story's progress immediately and permanently. Other stories are untouched.
- Deleting your account removes your account record, token records, and all saved progress. See section 8 for how and how long it takes.
- Server logs are kept for a limited period for security and troubleshooting, then deleted.
- Advertising and analytics data is held by Google under Google's retention policies. Crash reports are kept by Firebase for 90 days by default. We keep only aggregate statistics that cannot identify you.
8. Deleting Your Account
AITale stores your account and your saved stories, so you can delete them at any time.
How to delete your account. Open wispred.com/aitale-android/delete and sign in with the Google account you use for AITale. Signing in is how we confirm which account to delete. Then type DELETE to confirm. The deletion happens immediately. You do not need the app installed, and you do not need to email us.
If you cannot use that page. Email zhimengtech@gmail.com with the subject "Delete my AITale account", and tell us the Google account you use for AITale. This is the route for an account that has been disabled, because a disabled account cannot be deleted from the page. We may ask you to write from that Google account so we can confirm it is yours, and we do not ask for anything beyond that.
What gets deleted:
- your account record and every token issued for it — you are signed out on every device;
- the link between your Google account and AITale — your Google account itself is not affected;
- all saved story progress and every line of text you submitted.
What is not deleted:
- aggregate statistics that do not identify you;
- advertising data already collected by Google, which is governed by Google's own policies;
- copies in our backups, which are overwritten as those backups rotate out. A deletion made from the page takes effect immediately; it is these older copies that remain until they rotate;
- anything we are required to keep by law.
A deletion made from the page cannot be undone. When you ask us by email, we complete the deletion within 30 days of confirming that the account is yours, and we reply when it is done.
9. Your Rights and Choices
- See what we hold: ask us for a copy of your account details, and we will send it to the email address on the account.
- Correct it: your name and email address come from Google. Update them in your Google account and they change here; ask us if anything else looks wrong.
- Delete it: see section 8.
- Take it with you: ask for your story progress as a JSON file.
- Sign out everywhere: signing out revokes the tokens on that device; ask us to revoke all sessions if you no longer have access to a device you signed in on.
- Limit ad tracking: see section 5 for the Android settings and the consent choice for EEA, UK, and Swiss users.
- Use it without an account: the story library and story descriptions are readable without signing in.
Depending on where you live, you may have further rights over your personal data, including the right to object to certain processing or to complain to a data protection authority. Write to us first — most things are quicker to fix directly.
10. Children's Privacy
AITale is not intended for anyone under 18. The stories deal with mature themes and the app is not designed for children or rated for them on Google Play. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children; if you believe a child has created an account, write to us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, we update the date at the top of this page. If a change materially affects what we collect or how we use it — a new third-party service, for example — we will tell you in the app before the change takes effect, so you can decide whether to keep using AITale.
12. Contact
ZhimengTech is responsible for AITale and for the data described in this policy. For any question, or to exercise any of the rights above, write to zhimengtech@gmail.com. We answer privacy requests within 30 days.
